Dr. Shohei Aoki

Dr. Shohei Aoki is an adjunct associate professor at the Department of Mechatronic Engineering at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), where he engages in a technical cooperation project by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) as a long-term expert. As he works to strengthen engineering research capability in JKUAT, he facilitates multiple research groups, such as rockets, electric vehicles, and robotics.
Dr. Aoki is the founder of the Nakuja Project, which aims to develop locally-made rockets that can bring nanosatellites into the earth’s orbit. The project is driven by students from JKUAT and Pan African University Institute for Basic Sciences Technology and Innovation (PAUSTI) with support from the Kenya Space Agency (KSA).
Dr. Aoki previously served as the project research associate at Keio University to work for the Center of Innovation program by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology in Japan.
Dr. Aoki received his Ph.D. from the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics at the University of Tokyo.
